 | Qigong literally means the practice of working with the breath /energy. It is the umbrella term that encompasses all martial arts. There are thousands of forms that have been developed in the history of Asian Societies. Qigong/Chi Kung (pronounced "chee-gong”) is a form of meditation that starts with outward movement, then moves to internal movement, then settles into no movement, only stillness and inner peace. Qigong can also be used as a healing art called medical qigong or energy medicine. Qigong is well known to have many benefits such as: lowering blood pressure, normalizing blood sugar, quickening the healing process from illness, injury or surgery, increasing immunity to colds, infections and disease, reducing aches and pains esp. from arthritis and improving metabolism. Medical qigong has also been known to benefit cancer patients. Through consistent practice one can even cause a healing crisis ( sudden physical response that causes intense healing). Most simplistically everyone who practices qigong on a regular basis will experience improved vitality, sense of inner wellbeing for the mind and body, prevention in illness, mental clarity and awaken intuitive abilities.
